Your sequence is the set of messages and steps an agent follows when contacting a lead. Add messages, checks, LinkedIn actions and waits to build the path you want.
Open the workflow builder
Go to Agents and open the agent.
Choose Sequence, then Open workflow builder. You can also double-click the read-only workflow preview.
When setting up a new agent, open the workflow in Channels & accounts. On smaller screens, use Add an action and Step details to open the panels.
Example of a six-hour connection-acceptance window. Sample data shown.
Add and connect steps
Drag an action from the library onto the canvas. Drop it on a connection to insert it between steps. You can also select a step and click an action in the library to insert it after that step. Use the search field to find an action.
For a selected condition, choose Yes path or No path before clicking an action. Drag between the connection points on cards to connect the flow.
Messages include connection requests, LinkedIn messages, LinkedIn InMail and email. The agent’s channels control which choices appear. InMail requires eligible Classic Premium InMail credits from the assigned LinkedIn account.
LinkedIn actions include Visit profile, Follow profile and Like recent post. Like recent post continues without a like if no suitable recent original post is available.
Find and verify email looks for a verified address. Normal email credits and verification rules still apply.
Wait pauses the path. End sequence finishes it. End and hand off ends automated outreach and marks the conversation for your attention.
The step count includes messages, checks and actions. It is not the number of messages a lead will receive.
Choose the paths
A condition is a check. Its result sends a lead down the Yes or No path. Available checks include connection acceptance, an existing connection, profile availability, an open LinkedIn profile and a verified email address.
For Connection accepted, add a connection request earlier in the path. Set Wait up to for the acceptance window. Yes continues when the invitation is accepted. No continues when the window ends without acceptance. A missing No path ends the sequence for that outcome.
A prospect’s reply stops automated sequence follow-ups. You do not need to add a reply condition. Autopilot replies are controlled separately.
Set waits without promising a send time
Select Connection accepted to edit Wait up to in Step details. For a message or Wait step, edit its timing there or click the timing pill on its connection.
Wait before sending delays a message before it becomes eligible. Message delays and Wait steps use minutes, hours or days.
Wait up to on Connection accepted is the window for checking acceptance. Choose Hours, Days or Weeks, or use the 1 hour, 1 day and 1 week presets. Custom edits can be from 1 hour to 60 days. This window is separate from the next message’s delay.
Starts immediately means the first action has no workflow delay. It still waits until the lead is eligible. Choose Add start delay to place a real Wait step before it.
The timing on a connection into a Wait step edits that Wait step’s duration. It does not add a second wait.
Choose Hours, Days or Weeks for the acceptance window. Sample data shown.
Changing the unit converts the same duration. For example, 14 days becomes 2 weeks. To change how long the lead waits, edit the amount or choose a preset.
The condition window starts when the lead enters that condition. Saving a different duration does not restart the clock or immediately recheck waiting leads. Leads using the changed workflow apply it at their next eligible scheduled check.
Sending hours, approvals, account health, available capacity and other sending rules still apply after a wait ends.
Write and format messages
Select a message and choose Edit message, or double-click its card.
Choose AI-guided to give writing instructions, or Custom message to write your own text. Click or drag a variable chip into a custom message.
For AI-guided steps, open Formatting to control the greeting, sign-off and paragraph spacing.
Choose Apply changes to update the step, then save the workflow when ready.
Use Use template in the message editor to copy compatible wording or AI guidance from your workspace library. Use Save template to keep the current message for reuse. Manage these templates in Settings > Message templates. Review the step, select Apply changes, then save the workflow.
Write your message, then choose Apply changes. Sample data shown.
Email and InMail subjects are edited separately in Step details. Keep an InMail subject on one line within 200 characters. A connection note must fit within 200 characters, including the greeting, sign-off and line breaks.
Step guidance and formatting apply to new AI drafts. They do not rewrite stored drafts or approvals. A message you edited for one lead or already approved may keep that wording after you change the workflow.
For attachments, select a LinkedIn message, InMail or email step and use Media in Step details. See the media guide below for formats, recording and generation costs.
Preview and tidy the workflow
Choose Preview sequence to walk through one path with a sample prospect. Select a condition and switch between Yes and No to review both outcomes. Custom messages use sample variable values. AI-guided steps explain the planned writing rather than generating a draft. Nothing is sent.
Drag the empty canvas or scroll to move around. Pinch, use the zoom controls or hold Ctrl or Command while scrolling to zoom. Use Tidy layout to organize the cards. A card’s menu can duplicate or delete it. Undo and Redo move through edits, and Reset to saved restores the saved workflow.
Save the right version
For an existing agent, choose Save. Unsaved edits may be kept in this browser as a local draft. A local draft is not the workflow saved to the agent and is not a cross-device backup.
For a new agent, choose Done. This returns the workflow to setup. Finish setup and choose Create agent separately.
Saving can affect leads already in progress. Pause an active agent before major changes, then review the paths, affected leads and approvals before resuming.
If you cannot save, finish any media operation and read the validation message. The workflow needs connected steps, a Yes path for every condition and no loops. An acceptance check needs a connection request earlier in its path.
